To many high school basketball players, one thousand career points can seem like an almost unreachable feat. For Allie Ziebell, this was just the beginning.
After reaching the 1k milestone in just her sophomore season, Ziebell has continued to light up the Wisconsin Basketball scene. Now, having finished her Senior season, which saw her Neenah Rockets take second place in the Division 1 State Championships, Ziebell was named to the Wisconsin All-State team.
Her 2023-24 season honors didn’t stop there though. On April 1, Ziebell was unanimously voted the Wisconsin AP High School Basketball Player of the Year. Averaging 27.5 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, all while holding a 3-point percentage of 44.9, she did all she could to cement herself as the clear favorite.
In addition to her AP Honors, she was also named the 2024 Girls Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year.
Her performance throughout the regular season and playoffs earned her a trip to Houston, Texas, where she competed in the McDonald’s All-American game, scoring 8 points against the nation’s top recruits. She also went on to win the 3-point contest as part of the weekend’s festivities.
With all of her accomplishments, it is no wonder that she has been approached by a variety of powerhouse basketball colleges over the years. However, after an offer was extended during her Junior season, Ziebell has committed to playing for the University of Connecticut in the fall of 2024.
At UConn, Ziebell will be teaming up with legendary head coach Geno Auriemma, who currently has the Huskies in the Final Four in March Madness action. Auriemma has a history of leading talented teams to the Title, owning 11 National Championship victories.
Finishing her high school career with 2,819 points and 859 rebounds, she has rewritten the record books in her hometown of Neenah. However, even with records such as these, it is clear to see that Ziebell’s career is just beginning.
